We saved you a bite: North China (Lebanon Valley Food Critics) - LebTown

Lebanon County, PA news, events, and opinions.

Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

As this season becomes hectic and our schedules fill up, some dinners have to be last minute takeout – but that’s not always a bad thing. Tonight, I was in the mood for Chinese.

I had received a tip about a spot on the northside that had an amazing meal. So, I took JD’s advice, and the critic crew placed an order with North China Lebanon.

Located at Jonestown Road and Maple Street in Lebanon, they are in the end unit of a mini strip mall. They offer takeout only and have a small store front for service. They do have an online ordering platform showing their expansive menu offerings. But today we were old school and phoned our order in.

Tonight’s meal consisted of seafood lo Mein ($10.45), shrimp eggroll ($1.65), General Tso’s chicken combo ($9.79), and crab Rangoon ($5.90). They do add a 4% charge on credit card purchases.

The seafood lo Mein comes with ample seafood portions mixed in. After a good stir, the lo Mein flavor became evident. This healthy portioned meal was enough for leftovers later. The shrimp eggroll was lightly fried and included two shrimp inside.

The chicken combo came lightly sauced with a spicy flavor. The chicken pieces were all large and fried well. The spice on the General Tso had a great spice flavor but was not overpowering. We opted for the regular fried rice for this meal. The crab Rangoon was overly stuffed and very delicious.

Our take: North China offers a wide menu for take-out. They offer an online order platform for ease. The portions are fair and the quality of the food great. The seafood and chicken were good, full-size pieces. The phone communication was easy, and the location is easy to access.
