In an inundated market with beauty products flowing in that promise to deliver miraculous results; finding the one for you – that perfect pigmentation-free, spotless, glass-like glowing, hydrated skin on your wedding day can be daunting, to say the least. You want to look and feel the best on your big day and while you have your hands completely full with wedding planning, leave the basic skincare routine research to us!

All this to say, the first and possibly most crucial step in prepping skin pre-wedding is managing expectations. It is, of course, completely valid to want to feel absolutely beautiful and confident on your D-day, but your skin will always have texture and pores (it’s a part of all of us!). Accepting that, first and foremost, will make creating an effectual and realistic skin-care plan a whole lot easier.

So as opposed to binge-purchasing every product in sight, take some time to appraise what exactly your primary concerns might be – whether that’s reducing acne, increasing collage or elastic for an added glow, or simply hydration – will ultimately allow you to create a routine that makes sense for you and put you on track toward an achievable skin-care plan for your wedding day.

Stick to basics, because you can’t go wrong with this!

Bride or not, no skincare regime is complete without a proper CTM routine in place (day and night). CTM stands for cleansing, toning, moisturizing. We also like to add an ‘S’ to this for serum because we feel that’s equally important to treat specific skin concerns. Start simple; cleansing – whether you want to go in for a single or double cleanse is totally up to you.

However, double cleansing does ensure absolute removal of dirt & grime left behind from your skincare and make-up products applied prior. You do want a clean face before slathering on more skincare. Follow this up with a toner of your choice; a salicylic acid for acne, snail mucin for hydration or just a good ol’ rose water toner for simple hydration.

After toning comes serum and we recommend trusting the cult favorite on this one, vitamin C. The anti-oxidants in vitamin C will ensure that glow-from-within skin for your wedding day. Finish this up with a hydrating moisturizer and voila there’s your simple 4 steps ‘CTMs’ routine.

Acids such as AHAs and BHAs are generally not as effective at rebuilding collagen in the skin as retinoids are, but they are capable of providing fantastic results for hyperpigmentation, acne, dullness or textural issues.

In order to integrate an acid into your at-home skincare routine while also ensuring the percentage is right for your skin, it’s recommended to start low (around 1 to 10% in AHAs and 0.5 – 1 in BHAs) and then increase it if necessary. If you experience any kind of redness or extreme irritation, it's likely that the percentage is too strong for you and you should immediately stop using it.

Three months from your wedding date is an ideal window for you to begin using a new acid product and assess how your skin is responding without fear of irritation on your wedding day.

If regular facials are something you plan to integrate into your pre-wedding routine, you should start looking for an aesthetician about 3-6 months in advance. Before booking an appointment you find an aesthetician that specialize in an area that aligns with your skin goals.

Depending on your budget and severity of skin concerns, you can then work together to create a facial schedule in advance of your wedding – for some, this could be biweekly facials, and for others occasional treatments maybe once a month.

With all the pricey facials and treatments that might be heavy on the pocket, here’s a simple budget-friendly option for obtaining that bridal glow.

All these ingredients below could make for a great DIY bridal face mask:

We cannot stress enough about this – get your daily dose of fiber if you want that bridal glow!

Eat your veggies, including lots of fruits first half of the day like kiwi, avocado, papayas, bananas, gooseberry, etc to nourish the skin from the inside-out. Here’s a list of foods for glowing skin:

Hands down – one of the best ways to achieve hydrated, glowing and supple skin on your big day is 8 glasses of water a day. One straightforward way to track this is to get a large, clear 1 ltr water bottle and fill it in the morning. You’ll be surprised at how big of a difference a visual reminder makes.

Up to 60%, of the human adult body, is water; so do not skip on this essential if you want to flush out toxins and clear acne and blemishes.

If you find it challenging to drink that much water, include hydrating drinks like coconut water, vegetable juices, green and white tea and soups for the added water that your body needs.

Last but not least – and we won’t say too much – get your 8 hours of sleep every night. There’s a reason the popular phrase ‘beauty sleep’ is used for brides-to-be.
