Hot off the presses, here are the first pictures of the new Avalanche mask of goalie Alexandar Georgiev. It was designed by mask guru Dave Gunnarsson, whose site DaveArt has a gallery of all his creations.

It seems like Georgiev wanted a pretty basic design for this one. I don’t see any other characters or writing on it. I like the jagged Rocky Mountain silhouette on it, on top of the Avalanche logo. It’s got a LOT of little black dots on it.

Georgiev has been wearing the mask at informal skates with teammates of late. He’ll wear No. 40 this season, which is ennumerated on the front of the mask.

Looks like a Raiders design. Al Davis would have loved it.

Not a great looking mask IMHO, but as long as he stops pucks I don’t care if he wears a bag on his head.
