Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

As we continue our journey on the Ice Cream Wars, we found ourselves down in the western end of the Valley. This will be the penultimate stop before we announce the results.

Today we visited a new spot that opened a little while back. Located along West Main Street in Palmyra, Lucky’s Ice Cream serves ice cream from Windy Knoll Creamery in Chambersburg. They currently offer hand-dipped ice cream, with toppings available, and milkshakes.

The little critic and I got a chance to make an afternoon visit rather than our normal evening jaunt. For this afternoon’s treat, we got a small Peach ($3.49) and a Cookies & Cream milkshake ($5.50).

The hand dipped peach ice cream is a creamy offering that comes with small pieces of peach throughout. The peach flavor shines in this ice cream, and the texture is “freshly churned.”

Our second selection, a pick of the little critic, was a cookies & cream milkshake. You can get any ice cream flavor as a milkshake at Lucky’s. On first taste, it came across as cream & cream. The cookie element was visually evident, but the flavor was not there.

The quality of ice cream is close to top-notch. The menu is currently limited, hopefully that will expand sometime in the future.

If you have a restaurant you would like us to visit or review, whether a place you like or are nervous to try, please message us on Facebook or email lvfoodcritics@outlook.com and let us know. We thank everyone for the recommendations and the kind words we have received.
